What is a magnetic separator?




A magnetic separator is a magnet used to remove impurities and other magnetic materials from metal in a production line. Magnetic separators can be used before, during, and after the production of a material and can be adjusted to attract different types of magnetic materials at different intensity levels.
Although its use is almost always industrial, a magnetic separator is used for various applications. Magnetic separators can be fitted at a variety of critical control points within the production line, including silo intake, on conveyor belts, and in pneumatic lines. The raw material or finished product is fed either by gravity, air, pumped, or conveyor belt, where it passes through or over a magnetic rod, grid, grate, or plate. The magnetic field captures the ferrous contamination by attracting it to the magnetic tube or plate. The non-magnetic clean product can then continue through the process.
