On November 14th, after 8 years of scientific research by the Strong Magnetic Field Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the self-developed hybrid magnet device was successfully debugged, achieving a 400,000 Gaussian steady-state magnetic field. To this end, during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, China has decided to establish a national major scientific and technological infrastructure - a strong magnetic field experimental device, in which the steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device was built by the Hefei Institute of Material Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the University of Science and Technology of China participated in the joint construction. The project started in May 2008.

On November 14th, after 8 years of scientific research by the Strong Magnetic Field Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the self-developed hybrid magnet device was successfully debugged, achieving a 400,000 Gaussian steady-state magnetic field. It is reported that the magnetic field strength is second only to the 450,000 Gaussian steady-state magnetic field strength achieved by the National Strong Magnetic Field Laboratory. The Earth's magnetic field strength is about 0.5 Gauss, and the 400,000 Gaussian steady-state magnetic field strength is 800,000 times the Earth's magnetic field strength.

China's major scientific and technological infrastructure - the steady-state strong magnetic field experimental device passed the national acceptance in Hefei, Anhui Province on the 27th. The Process Acceptance Panel believes that “the performance of magnet technology and equipment has reached the international leading level”.

The completion of the steady-state strong magnetic field device has enabled China to have a national heavy weapon to explore the scientific peak, and to make the Chinese Academy of Sciences strong magnetic field center become one of the five research centers of steady-state strong magnetic fields in the world, marking the development of China's strong magnetic field science and technology. Going up a new step.
