This process, known as passivation, takes place on all NdFeB magnets so that they can withstand the transport from the factory to the end customer. Passing some of the sweat from your hands to the magnet will make them corrode, so passivation is very important. Before the surface treatment, the correct treatment of the magnet is also very necessary. Before surface treatment, the manufacturer must ensure that the magnet is not exposed to moisture as this can cause corrosion and the magnet can corrode under the surface coating.


Magnet surface treatment not only reduces corrosion, but also brings other advantages. Small magnetic particles are always present on the surface of the magnet, which can make bonding more difficult, for example. Through the surface treatment, these particles are easily removed during subsequent cleaning. Magnetized magnets are brittle and must be handled carefully. Magnets can easily crush their edges or parts of the magnet can become notched. In this case, the surface treatment also played a positive role.

Metal surface coating

Nickel-nickel-nickel or nickel-tin coatings are commonly used in China. The coating thickness is between 10 and 30 μM. It produces an electrical application between a hard, wear-resistant, bright surface that can easily be cleaned without any problems.


Zinc coatings also have a thickness of about 6-15 μM. Zinc Electro Applications do not provide good protection against corrosion Ni Ni ni and produce a white surface.

Organic surface coating

Epoxy coating produces a black surface 10-30μm thick, providing excellent corrosion protection. Epoxy resin also has good wear resistance and good electrical insulation.
