Is the higher surface Gauss, the better for magnetic separator?

Actually not.

Regarding the magnetic separator, there are several factors to be taken into consideration.

the magnetic head pulley or the magnetic plate, the magnetic field effective distance to attract the metal or ferrous object. How far is it that you want to suck out the metal from the magnet?


That magnetic head pulley or magnetic plate assembled by NdFeB magnet, its Surface Gauss can reach 12000GS or even 15000 Gauss, Gauss, but the magnetic field distance is very short, about 50-70mm.


While that assembled by ferrite or neodymium iron boron + ferrite products, the surface Gauss may be only 2000-4000GS, but the adsorption distance can reach 150-240mm.

 

the size of the metal that need to be attracted out.

For example, the iron powder is very small, the need for super higher Gauss, but the adsorption distance should be very short. Otherwise, it can't attract the powder out.

And For example, screws, nails, even wrenches, they do not need super Gauss, shorter distance to attract out.

 

The higher Gauss, the higher grade of the magnet should be needed, the more expensive is finished product. If we can buy suitable products at cheaper price. Why not?

 

Therefore, for magnetic head pulley or magnetic plate products, the most important thing is to ask the customer:

1. the requirement of the effective distance

2. the size of the metal that need to be attracted out.
